Haku's Hat
I’ve always been a hat person, and when Haku died, I wanted something I could wear that kept him close. Along with wearing his tags and keeping some of his hair in my wallet, I decided to design a hat in his memory. My old, well-worn favorite was falling apart, so this felt like the perfect time to create something, (just for me, at first), that could pay him tribute and that I could wear.
The little icon on this hat is actually Haku himself. I drew it from one of my favorite photos of him.
If you knew Haku, you know he wasn’t “just my dog.” He was a guide, a teacher, and a quiet, grounding presence for so many of the dogs (and humans) I’ve worked with. He shaped me, my work, and the lives of countless clients and their dogs. This hat is my way of honoring him every time I put it on.
When I showed the design to a few close clients and friends, I was just asking for feedback. But they immediately asked if they could have one too. So, I decided to make it available as a made-to-order piece. I'm not quite making a profit from this, just covering production and estimated shipping costs (about $5). This is for the people who knew and loved him, who want to carry his spirit a little closer.
Thank you for keeping his memory alive with me. It means more than I can say.
